“I provide the crucial last check before publication, ensuring there are no grammatical, typographical or spelling errors and that the language style gives clarity and meaning.”

I am a freelance proofreader and copy-editor. I hold a Certificate in Proofreading and Editing with the College of Media and Publishing (CMP) and a Certificate in Proofreading Theses and Dissertations with the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP) of which I am an entry level member. I also obtained a BA (Hons) French Studies at the University of Portsmouth and speak and write French to a high level.

I proofread and copy-edit documents of all types and for all businesses. However, with a background in academic studies, I am particularly interested in offering my services to the academic sector: undergraduates, post-graduates, PhD students and professional academics. I provide services to both native and non-native English speakers. My main interests are history, philosophy, politics, literature, linguistics and modern languages.

As a proofreader my work includes the following:

Basic Proofreading:

Includes amendments to written English (grammar, spelling, punctuation, vocabulary) and basic document format.

Intermediate Proofreading:

Includes basic proofreading plus amendments to sentence structure and ensuring that there is fluency, continuity and meaning throughout the text.

Advanced Proofreading:

Includes intermediate proofreading plus editing the language style, document presentation and format to ensure it suits your target audience.

I am able to work digitally using Microsoft Word Track Changes and Adobe Acrobat Reader or using traditional manuscripts.

I can work with clients remotely or meet face-to-face.
