I am a freelance proofreader and copy-editor. I hold a Certificate in Proofreading and Editing with the College of Media and Publishing (CMP) and a Certificate in Proofreading Theses and Dissertations with the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) of which I am an entry level member. I also obtained a BA (Hons) French Studies at the University of Portsmouth and speak and write French to Level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) .
I proofread and copy-edit documents, websites, ebooks and articles of all types for businesses of all sizes. I have a particular interest in websites but, with a background in academic studies, I am also interested in offering my proofreading services to undergraduate, post-graduate and PhD students as well as professional academics. My main subject interests are history, philosophy, politics, literature, linguistics and modern foreign languages.
As a proofreader my work includes the following:
Includes amendments to written English (grammar, spelling, punctuation, vocabulary) and basic document format.
Includes basic proofreading plus amendments to sentence structure and ensuring that there is fluency, continuity and meaning throughout the text.
Includes intermediate proofreading plus editing the language style, document presentation and format to ensure it suits your target audience.
I prefer to work digitally using Microsoft Word Track Changes and Adobe Acrobat Reader but I am also able to use traditional manuscripts.
I can work with clients remotely and/or meet face-to-face.
